Our Profile & History
The Georgia Spotted Saddle Horse Association (known as GSSHA) is a non-profit, 501-3-C corporation formed in 1998 to promote the Spotted Saddle Horse. To accomplish this, GSSHA holds public exhibitions of the Spotted Saddle Horse. GSSHA holds Open Sport horse shows and competitive trail rides. Horses do not need to be registered to show, but if going for SSHBEA points you must follow SSHBEA rules. GSSHA also participates in activities but are not limited to, the following: Fairs, educational programs and clinics.
Five Officers and 7 Directors govern the GSSHA. The officers and directors are elected by the general membership at the general membership meeting in December of each year. Officers serve one-year terms, and Directors are elected to three-year, two-year and one-year terms. Several committees made up of members assist the Board and Officers.
Being a non-profit corporation, the members-owners have a voice in the future of the association and the breed. In fact, they have the voice. They exercise their ownership rights by electing officers and directors, by serving as officers, directors, or committee members, and by promoting the Spotted Saddle Horse to the best of their abilities. If you aren't a member, you are missing out on an opportunity to take part in a growing association that is dedicated to preserving and promoting the Spotted Saddle Horse! The ride that glides with color. |
